Comments such as that were typically heard when I entered the truck stop for a hamburger steak, mashed potatoes, a veggie (typically green beans or corn (whatever canned veggie was dented and on-sale to the truck stop at the time).
After many hours of driving the big rig in hot humid weather and the air conditioner malfunctioning yet again it was difficult to not be a little “perfumey” but I was hungry and I had learned that the higher my stench level was the faster the service.
Was the waitress in a hurry to get rid of me or was it because I appeared hungry?
